Who's Coming

Ariane Careau

I come from the field of cultural management and international cooperation. I have always dedicated myself to social economy, since I like to give a sense to what I do and to be able to mesure the impacts on society. A couple years ago, I co-founded a non-profit organization in Saint-Henri, Montreal, called L’Espace Notre-Dame who’s mission was to offer a space where could create and perform artists of a range of genres, including music, performance art and visual arts.

Last year, I got the chance to work with a group of feminists in the Peruvian Andes, helping them build a growers’ cooperation association and this has been a self-growing experience in my life. Today, I feel lucky to be working on a socially innovative project here in Montreal. Temps libre, founded recently by Gaëlle Généreux and Vincent Chapdelaine, aiming to improve the living environment in our city by designing indoor public spaces opened without any barriers to the community. For this first project developed by the coop , the funding source of the public space is the coworking space. This is the concept that I am going to be presenting at the GCUC, along with our friends of Coworking Quebec.
